How to Listen

Once these files are downloaded to your computer, you can listen to them in a few different ways…

1. Listen on your Computer.

At the bottom of each Episode Blog Post, you’ll see a link that looks like this . This image will link you to the actual MP3 file. However, a more elegant way to access the file is to click the Play Now or Play in Popup links next to the image. This will launch a very cool little audio player right in the page itself.

Of course, if you are subscribed to the podcast and they arrive in your iTunes list, just click the Play button to listen in iTunes.

Although listening on your computer might be the easiest way, it’s probably not the most convenient. Sitting in front of your computer to listen to a podcast is about as convenient as sitting in front of your radio to listen to a broadcast.

2. Listen on your Portable Music player

The better way is to sync the file to your MP3 player, and listen to it as you do other things. If your MP3 player is an iPod then it will automatically sync to iTunes next time you connect your iPod to your computer. Browse to the file, press play and you’re there.

If you have a different MP3 player you just need to do whatever you would normally do to get files onto it. Windows Media Player can be used to sync MP3 files to non-iPods.

3. Listen on a CD

The other way you might like to listen is to burn the file as an audio CD. Most audio software like iTunes or Windows Media Player have built-in support for burning CDs. This is a good way to listen in your car.

4. Share the Love

Regardless of how simple we’ve tried to make the process of listening, some people will see it all as being a bit too hard. Those are the people who probably need to hear this stuff even more! You might even like to burn a copy of one of the podcasts to CD and hand it to one of your teaching colleagues who you think might benefit from hearing it.

Enjoy.
